Fairmount Park in Philadelphia was the first park in the world to have a trolley car line located entirely within the park. Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was the smallest city in the United States to place in service new modern Presidents' Conference Committee cars. Until Philadelphia's Route 62 (Darby-Yeadon) was combined with Route 13 in 1971, Route 62 was the shortest trolley car line in the United States. Featured lines include The Conestoga Traction Co., West Penn Railways, The Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Co., The Reading Street Railways at locations including the city of Lancaster, Lancaster County, Altoona, Johnstown, Allentown, Reading and Hershey. The original footage was shot on 16mm and 8mm film in both black and white and color, transposed to video with musical background added. TROLLEYS OF PHILADELPHIA Trolleys of Philadelphia takes a contemporary look at one of the oldest operating trolley systems in America, featuring the older P.C.C. cars, the newer Kawasaki cars and trackless trolleys. The entire program was shot from trackside at many locations during the summer of 1990. A few scenes featuring the many types of busses operated by SEPTA throughout the city are also seen.Except where noted in the description, all video footage was shot by and is exclusive to Railroad Video Productions.
