Description

(6-CD LP-sized box-set with 44-page book) Ernest Tubb recorded for Bluebird and then on Decca from 1936 until 1975. This, the fourth Bear Family box chronicling those years, takes the story from 1961 to April 1966. These were the days of the Nashville Sound, but you would hardly know it from Ernest Tubb's recordings. He held fast to the honky tonk sound with which he'd made his name. In addition to Tubb's recordings from this era, this set also includes the classic Texas Troubadours album Ernest Tubb Presents The Texas Troubadours. Further there are the earliest duets with Loretta Lynn in addition to all of Tubb's albums from the period including Just Call Me Lonesome, Thanks A Lot and Family Bible. The 177 recordings on 6 CDs in this set include 42 unissued performances. There is also a 44-page LP-sized book by Tubb's biographer Ronnie Pugh and detailed notes on the Troubadours recording sessions by Rich Kienzle.
