Description

Guitarist Bill Frisell, joins two of the jazz world's most esteemed improvising musicians - bassist Dave Holland and drummer Elvin Jones -in a trio set featuring new arrangements of Frisell originals as well as classic covers. Both Holland and Jones have played on some of the most influential jazz albums of all time, with Holland appearing on Miles Davis' Bitches Brew and In A Silent Way, along with works by Anthony Braxton, Kenny Barron, Sam Rivers, Joe Henderson, Chick Corea, and John Abercrombie. In addition to his historic work with John Coltrane, Jones has manned the drumkit with a veritable who's-who of jazz, from Art Pepper and Sonny Rollins to Grand Green and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. The record features Frisell originals spanning the entire breadth of his catalog, from the middle 1980's to last year's solo collection GHOST TOWN, plus interpretations of Henry Mancini's "Moon River," and Stephen Foster's "Hard Times," a melody particularly well-complemented by Frisell's style of cosmic-twang-meets urbane-Americana.
