Warm weather and abundant rain in May primed the flowers for a great honey flow in the early part of the season. The bees foraged nicely on alfalfa and clover from early June to mid July and the season was looking like one for the records books. Unfortunately, rains diminished in early July and a mild drought set in for the remainder of the summer. The bees continued foraging on alfalfa and a few wildflowers here and there, but didn't make much more excess honey. In the end though, the bees still made a great amount of honey and looked great going into the fall and winter seasons. The honey this year is closer to a light amber in color and maintains that same mild and sweet flavor.
